Description
The Rolex Datejust 78274 belongs to a generation of the reference produced through the late 1990s and early 2000s that has accumulated considerable collector interest — a period when Rolex offered a significantly broader range of dial treatments than the more standardized current catalogue, including decorative options such as the Jubilee anniversary motif. The ivory Jubilee dial featured on this example is among the most distinctive available during this production era: a cream-white ground covered in a fine all-over pattern of miniature Rolex crown logos arranged in a repeating field, with Arabic numeral hour markers superimposed — a combination that produces a dial of layered visual complexity absent from the current reference range. The Arabic numeral configuration further differentiates this example from the far more prevalent baton and Roman numeral variants of the same period.
The 31mm stainless steel Oyster case carries a white gold fluted bezel and white gold screw-down crown. The ivory Jubilee motif dial presents the characteristic crown-logo field pattern beneath steel Arabic numerals at each hour position, with a date aperture at three o’clock beneath a Cyclops lens. Steel sword hands complete the dial. The five-link Jubilee bracelet in stainless steel with concealed clasp completes the reference. A Rolex automatic movement powers the watch.
