Description
The A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk stands among the most consequential original creations in twenty-first-century watchmaking. Introduced in 2009, it presented the first mechanical wristwatch with large, precisely jumping digital hours and minutes — a configuration long considered impractical given the energy required to instantaneously advance the discs. Reference 142.025 represents the new-generation Zeitwerk launched in 2022, executed in platinum with the rhodié dial and refined Caliber L043.6 that doubled the original’s power reserve. For collectors, it embodies A. Lange & Söhne’s willingness to engineer entirely new mechanical solutions rather than refine existing ones, securing its standing as a modern grail among independents and connoisseurs alike.
The 41.9mm case in 950 platinum measures 12.2mm in height and frames a rhodié solid silver dial bisected by a black-rhodiumed time bridge in German silver. Three apertures display jumping hours at left and jumping minutes at right, with subsidiary seconds beneath and AUF/AB power reserve indicator above. The manual-wind Caliber L043.6 with patented remontoir constant-force mechanism delivers 72 hours of reserve, completed by a dark brown alligator strap with platinum deployant clasp.
