Description

Introduced in 2012 at SIHH, reference 405.035 represents long-awaited modernized evolution of iconic Datograph launched 1999 revolutionizing chronograph watchmaking through exceptional manufacture movement architecture and meticulous finishing standards. The update increased case diameter from 39mm to 41mm (thickness from 12.8mm to 13.1mm) while removing Roman numerals replaced with refined baton markers creating cleaner contemporary dial aesthetic, most significant addition being power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock earning “Up/Down” designation indicating remaining autonomy within extended 60-hour reserve versus predecessor’s 40 hours. Black dial crafted from solid silver provides dramatic contrast against platinum case and silver subdials while pulsometer scale surrounding outer edge represents often underappreciated branding implementation maintaining technical chronograph heritage. Despite increased dimensions, improved diameter-to-thickness ratio and shortened lugs ensure superior wrist presence versus first generation creating better proportional balance. Platinum execution remains most iconic configuration continuing tradition established by original 403.035 reference representing face of entire Datograph collection.

The 41mm case crafted entirely in 950 platinum features signature notched lugs with polished finish contrasting brushed case band, wide polished bezel, commanding pusher design matching case curves creating simultaneously bold yet dignified presence, sapphire crystal front and exhibition caseback revealing movement architecture, quick date-correction button at 10 o’clock position. Black solid silver dial features small precise baton hour markers, A. Lange & Söhne signed pulsometer scale, oversized double-digit date aperture at 12 o’clock inspired by Dresden Semper Opera House architecture, two silver subdials with blued hands showing running seconds at 4 o’clock and 30-minute counter at 8 o’clock, power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock, lumed Alpha-style hands, blued needle chronograph hand. Manual-winding Caliber L951.6 flyback column-wheel chronograph comprises multiple components operating at 18,000 vph providing 60-hour power reserve representing tremendous technical achievement through meticulous finishing including Glashütte ribbing, perlage, polished bevels. Black alligator leather strap with platinum tang buckle or deployant clasp.
