Description
The Quantième Perpétuel is one of F.P.Journe’s most mechanically distinguished creations — a perpetual calendar that deploys the manufacture’s characteristic approach of maximising display legibility within a formal round case, with day and month presented in large double apertures at two o’clock and a substantial large-date display at six. Journe’s perpetual calendar mechanism, developed entirely in-house, is notable for the instantaneous jumping of its calendar indications — the displays flip sharply at midnight rather than advancing gradually, a technical choice that requires considerably more energy management in the mechanism and produces considerably more satisfying readability at a glance. Produced in rose gold in limited annual quantities from the Geneva manufacture, the Quantième Perpétuel carries the house’s signature motto “Invenit et Fecit” — invented and made — affirming that every element of the movement is of Journe’s own design and manufacture.
The rose gold round case carries a polished bezel with brushed flanks. The white-silver dial presents a guilloché clous de Paris inner zone surrounding the subdial, with rose gold applied Arabic numerals and the characteristic double apertures for day and month at two o’clock and a large-date window at six. A small seconds subdial at nine sits within the guilloché field. Rose gold arrow hands complete the dial. A black alligator strap with rose gold pin buckle completes the reference. A manually wound in-house movement powers the watch.
