Description
The Octa Chronographe occupies a defining chapter in F.P.Journe’s catalog. Produced from 2001 to 2008, it was unveiled as the world’s first chronograph wristwatch combining a flyback function, large date, and 120-hour power reserve — three achievements that had never previously coexisted in a single chronograph. To accomplish this, François-Paul Journe reimagined the column wheel as a flattened cam, allowing the entire chronograph mechanism to fit within a one-millimeter layer beneath the dial. The platinum execution on its matching platinum bracelet stands among the scarcest configurations of the line, rarely surfacing on the secondary market.
The 38mm platinum case measures 10.6mm thick and frames the signature two-tone asymmetric dial in 18-karat white gold and whitened guilloché silver. Layout reveals off-centered hours and minutes, small seconds, large date at twelve, central chronograph seconds, and a sixty-minute counter at nine — all driven by the automatic Caliber 1300 with plates and bridges in 18-karat rose gold. Blued steel hands accent the composition, completed by an integrated platinum bracelet with deployant clasp.
