Description
Born from Japanese collector Mori’s 2011 request for an endurance racing watch, the F.P. Journe LineSport Octa Sport launched in 2012 with revolutionary aluminum construction before transitioning to Grade 5 titanium in 2014 when aluminum proved insufficiently robust for daily wear. This earlier 42mm titanium generation (pre-2018 upgrade to 44mm) represents F.P. Journe’s radical interpretation of sports watchmaking—combining haute independent horology with unexpected casualness. Rubber inserts protecting case sides, crown, and bracelet links function like automobile bumpers, absorbing shocks while creating distinctive visual signature. At approximately 65 grams total weight, it remains among the lightest full-bracelet titanium watches ever produced. The aluminum alloy movement marked Journe’s first departure from signature 18k rose gold calibers, enabling featherweight construction while maintaining manufacture standards.
The 42mm Grade 5 titanium case measures 11.6mm height with matte anthracite finish, rubber-protected sides. Aluminum alloy dial with applied luminescent Arabic numerals, sapphire small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. Large instantaneous jump date at 1 o’clock, day/night indicator at 9 o’clock (unique to Octa Sport), power reserve display at 10:30. Steel luminescent hour/minute hands, white steel and red lacquered titanium small hands. Caliber 1300.3 automatic movement entirely constructed in aluminum alloy, off-center titanium rotor with tungsten segment, 160-hour (5-day) power reserve. Integrated titanium bracelet with rubber inserts, rubber-coated folding clasp with micro-adjustment.
