Description
Introduced in 2018, the 5740/1G marked a pivotal moment in the Nautilus’s history: the first Grand Complication ever housed within Gérald Genta’s 1976 sports design. Patek Philippe accomplished what many considered impossible — fitting a perpetual calendar into the Nautilus silhouette while preserving the proportions that define the model. At 8.42mm thick, it remains the thinnest perpetual calendar Patek Philippe has ever produced. For collectors, the reference represents the convergence of the maison’s most coveted sports line with its most historically significant complication, making it among the most pursued contemporary Nautilus references.
The 40mm case in 18-karat white gold frames a sunburst blue dial with the signature horizontally embossed pattern and white gold applied baton hour markers. Three subdials at three, six, and nine o’clock display day, date, month, leap year cycle, moon phase, and 24-hour indication. The ultra-thin automatic Caliber 240 Q drives the perpetual calendar via a 22-karat gold micro-rotor, visible through the sapphire caseback. An integrated white gold bracelet with fold-over clasp completes the watch.
