Description
Few watch designs have so thoroughly transcended the boundary between horology and jewelry as the Panthère de Cartier. The small two-row configuration — the most intimate expression within the Panthère family — has been worn by figures across fashion, film, and culture since the reference’s 1983 debut, accruing a biographical richness that no contemporary design can replicate. Cartier’s 2017 relaunch of the Panthère collection validated what vintage collectors had long understood: the small two-tone model represents the design at its most purely distilled, where the sinuous bracelet and cushion-square case read as a single unified object rather than a watch with a strap.
The stainless steel case carries a yellow gold bezel secured by eight visible screws, with the characteristic sapphire cabochon crown completing Cartier’s signature design detail at three o’clock. The cream dial presents bold black Roman numerals framed by an inner guilloché railroad border, with blued-steel sword hands at center and no date complication — keeping the dial composition entirely uninterrupted. The two-row bracelet alternates brushed stainless steel and polished yellow gold links. A Swiss quartz movement powers this piece.
