Description
The Nautilus turns fifty in 2026 — half a century since Gerald Genta’s porthole-derived design entered production in 1976 and permanently altered the trajectory of luxury sports watchmaking. To mark the occasion, Patek Philippe introduces the 5810G-001 as a 1,000-piece limited edition: a time-only Nautilus in white gold with the manufacture’s ultra-thin caliber 240, a movement at 2.53mm so thin it required an entirely new case architecture to house it at just 6.9mm overall. The decision to build the anniversary Nautilus around a time-only movement rather than a complication is a deliberate statement of design confidence — the watch asserts that the case form, the blue horizontally embossed dial, and the baguette diamond hour markers are sufficient without further elaboration. The 22K gold minirotor engraved with “50 1976 – 2026” is a private acknowledgment of the occasion, visible only through the sapphire crystal case back.
The 41mm two-part white gold case carries contrasting polished and satin finishes, a screw-down crown, and a sapphire crystal case back. The sunburst blue horizontally embossed dial presents white gold applied hour markers set with baguette-cut diamonds totalling 0.39 ct, with white gold rounded baton hands with luminescent coating. A navy blue composite fabric-pattern strap with cream stitching and white gold fold-over clasp completes the reference. Caliber 240, ultra-thin self-winding with anniversary-engraved 22K gold minirotor, powers the movement.
