Description
Introduced 2009 marking 10th anniversary of Chronomètre à Résonance, reference RT (Résonance Trios) represents François-Paul Journe’s most visually distinctive Résonance execution through radically redesigned dial layout earning “parking meter” nickname among collectors. The reference leverages Résonance’s independent time-setting capability incorporating 24-hour digital display on left subdial alongside traditional 12-hour analog display on right subdial enabling dual time zone functionality. Produced 2010-2019 as third-generation Résonance featuring Caliber 1499.3 movement in 18k rose gold, the RT achieved approximately half the production numbers versus earlier RN version due to polarizing aesthetic departure from traditional twin analog dial layout. Won Best Complication Watch Prize at Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2010, first Résonance variant receiving this prestigious recognition. Rose gold case paired with salmon dial represents quintessential F.P. Journe aesthetic combining warm precious metal with signature dial color.
The 40mm rose gold case measures 9.1mm thick housing manual-winding Caliber 1499.3 crafted entirely from 18k rose gold with Côtes de Genève decoration comprising 36 jewels and twin independent gear trains each with linear escapements, monometallic four-arm balances with four timing weights, and self-compensating free-sprung flat Anachron balance springs oscillating at 21,600 vph achieving resonance synchronization through natural sympathetic vibration discovered by Christiaan Huygens 1665 enhancing chronometric stability. Salmon dial features delicate guillochage texture with two silver subdials: left displaying 24-hour digital indication through separate colored discs for hours and minutes, right showing traditional 12-hour analog time with railroad track minute chapter ring, twin small seconds at 6 o’clock, reversed power reserve at 11 o’clock counting upward from zero to 40 hours following marine chronometer convention. Winding crown at 12 o’clock adjusts both time zones through bidirectional rotation, pusher at 4 o’clock synchronizes both seconds hands to zero, blued steel hands throughout.
