The F.P.Journe Chronomètre Souverain represents François-Paul Journe’s purest expression of chronometric precision, launched in 2005 and inspired by 19th-century marine chronometers. This model marked Journe’s first non-limited watch with a full-size dial rather than off-centered subdials, winning the GPHG “Favourite Men’s Watch” award the same year. The manual-wind Caliber 1304 is rendered entirely in 18k rose gold—a signature across all Journe movements—and required three years of development to achieve its revolutionary 4mm thickness. Twin barrels arranged vertically deliver consistent power over 56 hours, though the power reserve indicator uniquely counts hours since last winding rather than remaining reserve, borrowed from marine chronometer tradition.
The 40mm platinum case measures 8mm tall and features Journe’s distinctive flat knurled crown. The whitened silver dial displays 18k white gold appliqué numerals and rhodium-plated steel hands.
