Description
Produced between 2004 and 2015, part of Black Label Collection representing F.P.Journe’s most exclusive offering created specifically for existing F.P.Journe watch owners only, available exclusively through F.P.Journe boutiques and espaces worldwide. With limited annual production of approximately 900 timepieces per year, F.P.Journe created even more exclusive timekeeper reserved solely for owners of F.P.Journe watches establishing unprecedented collector community exclusivity. World premiere as Octa Calendrier represents first wristwatch to integrate annual calendar with large date and to feature power reserve of more than 120 hours, representing annual calendar as third complication to be integrated in automatic Octa caliber recognized as automatic movement to feature power reserve of over five days with very high degree of precision even when watch not worn. Originality of each complication in Octa collection is identical baseplate used for each model where François-Paul Journe managed to integrate sizable complication of retrograde annual calendar while maintaining dimensions of standard movement of only 30mm diameter and 5.7mm high demonstrating rare spatial vision to imagine single complex chassis integrating very different mechanisms without changing its size.
The 40mm platinum case (also available in 38mm) measures 10.6mm overall height featuring polished and brushed surfaces, screwed caseback with exhibition sapphire crystal revealing movement finishing, three-position crown. Blackened gold dial with whitened guilloché silver elements features off-center hours and minutes displayed in whitened guilloché silver sub-dial, small seconds at 4:30 in whitened guilloché silver sub-dial, retrograde annual calendar display arcing across top of dial showing date numerals from 1 through 31 with pointer hand indicating current date, month display windows showing abbreviated month name, large date display, power reserve indicator, blued steel hands, rhodium-plated steel hands. Annual calendar indicates date in two windows and date advances automatically for months with 29, 30 and 31 days where in non-leap years or three years out of four date is advanced manually from 28th to 29th of February by simple turn of crown with date then passing automatically from February 29 to March 1. Automatic-winding Caliber 1300 crafted entirely in 18k rose gold features large-capacity mainspring barrel, meter-long mainspring supplying average 850 grams of torque limiting balance amplitude loss to 25 percent over five-day period, full-size free-sprung chronometer balance measuring 10.1mm diameter giving greater inertia and stability, balance adjusted by five turning weights vibrating at steady 21,600 times per hour, balance with four adjustable inertia weights, flat Anachron micro-flamed balance spring, mobile stud holder, Nivatronic laser welded to collet, pinned GE stud, in-line lever escapement with 15-tooth wheel, three-position crown, slipping mainspring, off-center winding rotor in 22k gold with bi-directional automatic winding, date setting by turning crown in opposite ways in position 2, time setting with crown in position 3, 120-hour power reserve delivering chronometric precision fully wound, high-grade finishing with circular stripes on bridges, baseplate partly circular grained, gilt engravings, polished screw heads with chamfered slots, pegs with polished rounded ends, steelwork with polished chamfers and straight graining.
