Description
The reference QP represents F.P.Journe’s interpretation of the perpetual calendar complication launched in 2013 as the ninth creation in the Octa collection, introducing a distinctive approach to this classical complication through exceptional readability achieved via large aperture displays rather than traditional subdials while incorporating instantaneous jump functionality for all calendar indications powered by an ingenious energy accumulation and release system designed by François-Paul Journe himself. Exclusively available through F.P.Journe boutiques and authorized Espaces when configured with the blue guilloché dial variant, this reference demonstrates the manufacture’s commitment to creating highly wearable complications with user-friendly adjustment mechanisms allowing all corrections to be performed via the three-position crown except rapid month correction accessible through a protected corrector lever hidden beneath the lug at 1 o’clock, appealing to collectors who value both technical innovation and practical usability combined with the refined aesthetics characteristic of independent watchmaking at its finest.
The 40mm case crafted in platinum features polished bezel, brushed flanks, onion-shaped crown with three positions for time setting and calendar adjustments, sapphire crystal, and transparent sapphire caseback revealing the beautifully finished automatic movement. The blue guilloché clous de Paris dial displays applied 18-karat white gold Arabic numerals at even hour positions, railroad minute track, blued steel hour and minute hands, central leap year indicator hand pointing to numerals 1, 2, 3 in black or L for leap year displayed in red, large instantaneous jump day and month displays in twin apertures at 12 o’clock with 18-karat white gold frames, oversized instantaneous jump date display in double aperture at 6 o’clock unique to F.P.Journe perpetual calendars, and power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock showing approximately 120 hours. Inside beats the automatic Caliber 1300.3 constructed entirely in 18-karat rose gold including bridges and mainplate following F.P.Journe’s philosophy of using precious metal movements, featuring off-center 22-karat gold guilloché unidirectional winding rotor with self-locking ceramic ball bearing system that winds in only one direction maximizing efficiency from minimal wrist movement, circular graining, circular Geneva stripes, polished chamfers, anachron free-sprung flat balance spring, frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Black alligator leather strap with large square scales secures with platinum tang buckle.
